Chemnitz cyclist Maximilian Levy wins Olympic medal
At the Olympic Games in London, track cyclist Maximilian Levy, who competes for Chemnitz-based Team Erdgas, won bronze in the team sprint. Together with Rene Enders and Robert Förstemann, he beat Australia in the small final to secure third place. Shortly before the start of the competition, the team even had to be rearranged again due to an injury to Stefan Nimke. Nevertheless, multiple track cycling world champion Levy managed to repeat his success in Beijing 2008, when he also won bronze.

Of course, the fact that a team-mate dropped out shortly before the start of the race makes the medal even more special. The team around Maximilian Levy overcame this situation with a lot of passion and fighting spirit and deserved the medal."
Great Britain won the team sprint final with a new world record, silver went to France. The Olympic Games are still taking place in London until 12 August 2012.
