Chemnitz Cycling Day: Cycling with the family on Children's Day

More than 1000 women, men and children get on their bikes every year - now for the 17th time - to take part in a cycle tour across Chemnitz. Last year it was still called "Vital & Mobil", but is now known as the "Family Cycle Tour", with the aim of expanding this event into the "Chemnitz Cycle Day" with other partners in future.

The tour through Chemnitz, which is secured by security forces and police, starts on 1 June at 10 a.m. at Am Wall. There are two distances to choose from: the family cycle course, which is nine kilometres long, and a sporty distance of 24 kilometres. There will also be an event area at the VITA-CENTER, which, with the help of sponsors, clubs, businesses from the VITA-CENTER and from all over Chemnitz, will offer participants further sport and exercise options as well as information about cycling.

It's no coincidence that this family bike tour takes place on Children's Day - so there's no question that there will also be various additional activities for the youngsters on this day, including a bike course, climbing games and a bouncy castle.

Of course, cyclists can also treat themselves to a snack at the finish line. The nine-kilometre route of the family course also ends here, in front of the VITA-CENTER, at around 10.45 am.

Those who are more athletic will start again at 11 a.m. at the VITA-CENTER, Upper Main Entrance West, after a short rest, and then finish their 24-kilometre distance here again at around 12.30 p.m. The event ends at around 4 p.m.

As usual, numerous volunteers, stewards and the police will secure the participants of this tour through Chemnitz. In order to make the ride safe for everyone, the organisers ask all participants to comply with the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO). This also means that bicycles must be roadworthy and the instructions of the police and stewards must be followed. And mutual consideration is part of the self-image of every sports fan.
