Chemnitz cultural café
Cultural mayor invites you: on 8 March, 2 to 4 pm, in the foyer of the Stadthalle
Mayor of Culture Ralph Burghart invites Chemnitz residents to an entertaining event with talk and music in the foyer of Chemnitz City Hall on Sunday, 8 March from 2 to 4 pm (admission from 1.30 pm). Admission is free. Prior registration is not required.
Mayor Ralph Burghart will report on the current status and the next most important steps in the implementation of the cultural strategy that was adopted a year ago. In this context, Chemnitz residents can still obtain one of the sought-after leaflets "Wimmelbild Kulturstrategie". You can also see the author of the hidden object picture, Stephanie Brittnacher, in action at the event; she will be drawing live on paper during the programme.
Ferenc Csák, project manager of Chemnitz's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2025, will bring news and report on the current progress of work on the extended bid book. It must be submitted by the end of July. The jury's decision is expected on 23 September 2020.
Cultural institutions and organisations will present exciting projects and highlights from this year in panel discussions. For example, large and small theatres in Chemnitz, the project with art in public spaces "GEGENWARTEN", the "Leselust", the "Chemnitz Museum Night", museums, a petrol station that has become an artistic project space and festivals planned for this year, such as the Hat Festival, the POCHEN Festival and KOSMOS.
Guests can also find out more about the 4th Saxon State Exhibition "Boom. 500 Years of Industrial Culture in Saxony" (from 25 April to 1 November 2020). Chemnitz is represented with two venues: MaschinenBoom. at the Chemnitz Industrial Museum and EisenbahnBoom. at the Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf Railway Museum.
The two-hour Chemnitz Culture Café programme will be accompanied by jazz from the "Volker Braun Trio" from Chemnitz and can of course be enjoyed with coffee and cake.
Beate Düber will host the event.
