Chemnitz City Library: New user and fee regulations from 15 January - Extended opening hours in the district libraries from 1 February
As of 15 January 2015, the Chemnitz City Council's new fee and usage regulations for the Chemnitz City Library will come into force. It enables the introduction of a subscription contract for the direct debit of the annual fee. Anyone using this option will pay an annual fee of 18 euros for a single card as before. For all other customers, the annual fee increases by two euros to 20 euros.
Children and young people up to the age of 18 can continue to use the library free of charge. Reduced fees for pupils over 18, students and Chemnitz Pass holders will remain the same. They will pay 10 euros in future. Families of up to five people can use the Chemnitz City Library for 28 euros.
A reduced fee of 10 euros will be charged for Dank Card holders, who were previously able to use the library free of charge. Another new offer is a combined ticket for use of the City Library and the Museum of Natural History - this costs 27 euros.
Fees for reserving borrowed media and for return and payment requests have been adjusted.

District libraries in the Yorck area and Vita Centre open longer again
The shortened opening hours at the Yorck-Gebiet and Vita-Center branches have been partially reversed. Both facilities will be open three days a week again from 1 February 2015. This is made possible by a reduction in services at the Central Library. From 1 February, no information and advice services will be available between 7 and 8 pm.
