Chemnitz City Library closes tomorrow

Contactless media collection service is offered

Due to the current nationwide legislation, the facilities of Chemnitz City Library will close from Saturday, 24 April 2021, until further notice.

During the closure period, the offer to collect pre-ordered media yourself will be available again from 24 April. Books, CDs, films, games and magazines can be borrowed by prior appointment. Media can only be returned to the central library in the TIETZ.

New customers can register online in advance.

The library locations can be reached as follows:

  • District library in the VITA Centre, W.-Sagorski-Str. 22, 09122 Chemnitz

    monday11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Thursdays11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • District library in the Yorck Centre, Scharnhorststr. 11, 09130 Chemnitz
    by telephone on 0371 71885 and by e-mail: yorck(at)stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de
    Tuesdays11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    Friday from11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

And this is how the contactless lending service works:

  • Customers of Chemnitz City Library search the online catalogue at home: https://opac2.stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de for up to ten items from the Central Library's collection that can be borrowed.
  • They then contact the relevant branch of the city library, stating their library card number, telephone number or e-mail address and the desired titles.

The public bookcase in the TIETZ is not accessible during the closing time.
