Chemnitz children meet for the 15th Children's Conference

On Monday, 8 November, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Chemnitz primary school pupils will meet for the 15th Children's Conference. Media representatives are invited to join the digital discussion from 1 pm. They will receive a link for participation from the Children and Youth Officer Ute Spindler on 0371 488 5105. Rosa-Luxemburg-Grundschule will also be facilitating an on-site discussion with some of the participants at 2.30 pm. Photo permission has been granted for these children.
The aim of the 15th children's conference, which has the motto "Democracy suitable for children. But how?", is to convey democratic processes to the next generation in a lively and vivid way. Interest in the topic is enormous: around 50 fourth-graders from nine different primary schools in Chemnitz have registered since September. As every year, the conference is organised by the City of Chemnitz's Children and Youth Officer, Ute Spindler, in cooperation with municipal institutions as well as independent socio-cultural initiatives, associations and UNICEF.
The conference, which the children join from their respective schools, opens with the digital game "I'm great, I'm changing the world! " - designed with UNICEF and various partners. In various digital spaces, the children will then deal with topics such as "Learning at school" or "What would you do differently 'in Corona' if you were allowed to decide something?".
Different points of view will be discussed in groups and theses will be developed together. These - and this is new - will then be presented digitally in the plenary session and then voted on.
