Chemnitz celebrates 50 years of twinning with Łódź
Invitation for journalists: Entry in the Golden Book on 6 June, 12.30 pm
On Thursday, 6 June at 12.30 pm, Lord Mayor Sven Schulze will receive a delegation from the Polish twin city of Lódź. To mark the 50th anniversary of the twin city, Deputy Mayor Adam Wieczorek will sign the City of Chemnitz's Golden Book. Adam Wieczorek is responsible for health and social affairs in Lódź. Following his participation in the Chemnitz Peace Day 2023, this is his second visit to Chemnitz.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend.
Afterwards, there will be a reception for stakeholders in German-Polish relations, including the German-Polish Society Chemnitz e. V., the Saxon Mozart Society Chemnitz e. V., the Industrial Museum with the "Tales of Transformation" project and entrepreneurs from Poland. The delegation will also visit the newly renovated Hartmann Factory, the Industrial Museum and the Chemnitz Sports Forum.
The reason for the visit is the concert series "Mosty musyczne - musical bridges" organised by the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra. The works of composers from Lódź will take centre stage. After two concerts in Chemnitz on 5 June at 8 pm and 6 June at 7 pm, there will be a guest performance in Lódź on 11 June and in Wrocław on 12 June. More information here.
At the beginning of the concert, which starts at 7 pm on Thursday evening in the Great Hall of Chemnitz City Hall, there will be a short discussion between Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, Deputy Mayor Adam Wieczorek and the General Director of Chemnitz City Theatre, Dr Christoph Dittrich, in which the partnership relations will be highlighted.
At the same time, the Chemnitz Chamber of Industry and Commerce is organising a programme for entrepreneurs from Lódź. A return visit is planned for next week on the occasion of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic's guest performance in Lódź.
