Chemnitz blossoms - summer flower planting begins

The annual summer flower planting begins on Wednesday 5 June 2019. The city's gardeners will bring colour to the city over an area of around 1,000 square metres.

The beds have already been prepared in recent weeks so that the first summer flowers can be planted on Schlossplatz. This will be followed on 12 June by planting in the "Park am Roten Turm" and the "Schloßbergpark".

The plants will be supplied in the usual high quality by the company Wilhelm-Willkomm GbR from Dresden.

A total of 24,500 summer flowers such as begonias, liver balsam, coloured nettle, dahlias, verbena and coneflower will be planted for the colourful flowering display. This will also provide the city bees with some tasty treats.

The cost of the planting totalled 15,897 euros.
