Checks on Road Safety Day
Public order office takes part in day of action on 17 June
Road Safety Day will take place again on Saturday, 17 June. To mark this nationwide day of action, the traffic monitoring department of the City of Chemnitz Public Order Office is planning increased checks to monitor stationary and moving traffic.
Checks to ensure compliance with the speed limit can be expected at these locations:
- Neefestraße/Im Neefepark (accident blackspot)
- Chemnitztalstraße/Glösaer Straße (accident blackspot)
- Oberfrohnaer Straße (S244) AS BAB4 (accident blackspot)
- Augustusburger Straße/Spürweg (accident blackspot)
Checks on stationary traffic will be carried out on the day with a particular focus on ensuring that footpaths and cycle paths are kept clear.
Road Safety Day was initiated by the German Road Safety Council (DVR) in 2005 and has been held on the third Saturday in June ever since. It is intended to inform the public about the various goals and demands relating to road safety and to emphasise that every road user can make a contribution. The aims include adherence to speed limits and increasing safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The day of action in the city of Chemnitz will also be supported by a poster campaign on large advertising structures, which will be displayed under the hashtag #MehrAchtung with slogans such as "Car, bike, lorry. We're all in the same boat." or "If chocolate can be fair, so can road traffic." to promote more consideration in road traffic.
