City establishes new employer brand to attract skilled labour

The City of Chemnitz is repositioning itself as an employer. In view of the shortage of skilled labour, the aim is to fill vacancies quickly and competently in the future and thus also relieve the burden on existing employees. In doing so, the City of Chemnitz wants to raise its profile as an employer.

The current situation was analysed together with an external agency. In addition to the external impact, the focus was on internal perception. This was achieved with the support of employees who were involved in surveys and workshops. This enabled strengths and potentials to be developed, which form the basis of the new employer brand of the City of Chemnitz.

Personnel Mayor Ralph Burghart: "The internal culture of the city administration has developed considerably in recent years. We want to move with the times, take a closer look at leadership skills, enable mobile working, for example, and listen to our employees. We are proud of this development and therefore also want to show the outside world that we are an attractive employer. In times of a shortage of skilled labour and information overload, we need much stronger visual stimuli to remain visible or even become visible to new target groups in the first place. The launch of the new campaign brings us a big step closer to this goal."

With the help of the current positioning, the City of Chemnitz wants to show that there are people working here who want to make a difference, who want to shape Chemnitz and contribute to their city - together. On the one hand, this idea sets itself the task of presenting the administration as an attractive, diverse employer and, on the other, of emphasising the people and qualities that are necessary for a contemporary Chemnitz worth living in. The colourful and modern design of the employer brand reflects the various fields of activity at the City of Chemnitz and shows that the city is positioning itself for the future.

The new career portal https://karriere.chemnitz.de brings together several items: current job advertisements, brief insights into the areas of work, authentic ambassadors, a new image video and, of course, the reasons for working for the City of Chemnitz and much more.

From Tuesday, 9 January, the new advertising posters will be on display as a citylight campaign in the city. Short video clips on the topic will also be played on the City of Chemnitz's social media channels. Further communication measures are currently being prepared.
