Changes to the shareholder structure of City-Bahn Chemnitz and CVAG/VVHC initiated
The City of Chemnitz intends to commission Chemnitzer Verkehrs AG with the provision of local public transport services from 2020 by means of a direct award. The condition for the direct award of the so-called public service contract is that the transport company only operates within its area of responsibility. This also applies to CVAG's shareholdings.
In order to fulfil this condition, changes need to be made to the shareholder structure of City-Bahn Chemnitz GmbH, as CVAG currently holds a 60 percent stake in City-Bahn. The City Council therefore decided the following at its meeting today: Versorgungs- und Verkehrsholding Chemnitz (VVHC) will take over CVAG's current 60 per cent stake in City-Bahn Chemnitz GmbH. VVCH will in turn sell a 10.04 per cent share in City-Bahn to Verkehrsverbund Mittelsachen (VMS). Other shareholders of City-Bahn are Regionalverkehr Erzgebirge and Autobus Sachsen. The two companies are also preparing to sell their shares in City-Bahn to the VMS.
The City-Bahn operates the Chemnitz Model lines on behalf of the VMS, connecting the city of Chemnitz with the region on the routes to Burgstädt, Mittweida, Hainichen, Stollberg and soon also to Thalheim/Aue.
