Changes to the general decree on corona quarantine
A positive PCR test is sufficient proof for the employer
The current general ruling on the isolation of persons who have tested positive for the coronavirus, close contacts and suspected persons contains significant changes to the previous regulations:
Isolation is no longer ordered in writing. The public health department will no longer issue quarantine notices to the affected citizens. A positive PCR test is now sufficient as proof to employers or schools. However, quarantine checks by the public health department will continue to be carried out on a random basis.

Further changes to the new decree, which applies up to and including 10 April 2022
- Contact persons who have been vaccinated twice or vaccinated once and recovered are exempt from quarantine for 90 days. Contact persons who have been vaccinated three times or vaccinated twice and recovered are exempt from quarantine indefinitely.
- Children between the ages of five and eleven who are contact persons and have been fully (twice) vaccinated are also exempt from quarantine indefinitely. (A third or booster vaccination is not recommended for this age group).
- Positive test results, which are determined during the so-called "free test", no longer have to be reported to the public health department.
In principle, isolation is still mandatory for ten days, which can be ended on the seventh day of quarantine with a professional rapid test or a PCR test in a test centre ("free testing"). In the case of a source case, there must also have been no symptoms for 48 hours.
Changed availability of the Corona hotline of the public health department:
From 1 April, the Corona hotline will be available from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
Please note that you no longer have to report a positive rapid/self-test result to the public health department. Those affected should have a PCR test carried out and go into home quarantine.
