Changes in the implementation of the Saxon Investment Strengthening Act

At its meeting today, the City Council approved new measures for the implementation of the Saxon Investment Strengthening Act.

The revision of Theaterstraße/Brückenstraße - Innenstadtring must be removed from the action plan due to the postponement of the rainwater overflow basin 2 construction project by the waste disposal company, as it cannot be guaranteed that it will be completed on time by 2020. Instead, three new projects will be realised.

3 million euros have been earmarked for the renovation and reconstruction of the bridge over the Pleißenbach at the corner of Matthesstraße and Schloßteichstraße. In addition, the renovation of the weirs at Schloßteich, including the inlet area and outlet structure, is planned as a replacement measure. This will provide flood protection in this area and improve the water ecology of the castle pond. A total of 750,000 euros is available for the renovation. Of this, 187,500 euros are the City of Chemnitz's own funds.

The third replacement measure is the first construction phase of the new fire service technical centre with total costs of 6.25 million euros. The first construction phase is to be realised in 2017. It includes the construction of a building with training and functional rooms, a vehicle hall for the disaster control unit and parts of the outdoor facilities for training purposes.
