Change of local chairman of the Kleinolberdorf-Altenhain local council on 1 January 2018
Appointment of Prof Dr Marco Gerlach and farewell to Bernd Gerlach
Prof. Dr Marco Gerlach was appointed as the new mayor of Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain from 1 January 2018 by Mayor Miko Runkel on behalf of the Lord Mayor at today's city council meeting and received the certificate of appointment.
Prof. Dr Marco Gerlach was already elected by the Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain local council on 6 November 2017 as the new local mayor until the end of the 2014 to 2019 electoral term.
Bernd Gerlach, the previous local councillor of Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain, was honoured at today's town council meeting for his work as local councillor to date. At his own request, he will retire from his position as an honorary civil servant on 31 December 2017 for reasons of age. His mandate as a member of the local council remains unaffected.
Bernd Gerlach was elected mayor from 17 municipal representatives in the first democratic election in the GDR on 18 March 1990. Since the incorporation into Chemnitz in 1997, he has been chairman of the local council and has thus been at the head of the representation of interests in the Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain district for over 27 years.
"On behalf of the Mayor of Chemnitz, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Gerlach for his work as a member of the local council. In particular, I would like to thank him for his great commitment as local councillor over many years and several electoral terms. In doing so, he has always served the well-being of his village of Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain, while also taking into account the interests of the town as a whole," said Mayor Miko Runkel, who chaired the town council meeting on his behalf.
