Change in the times of siren rehearsals

The Chemnitz City Fire Department is changing the times for test siren alarms. These rehearsals will no longer take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 5.30 pm, but from now on every first Saturday of the month at 11 am. The alarm signal to be heard is a twelve-second tone followed by the announcement "Test alarm".

With the commissioning of the IRLS, an agreement was reached with the connected control centres on a standardised siren test.

The siren test is used to check that the functions are guaranteed at all times and that good audibility is achieved.

Sirens are used to alert fire brigades and rescue services in the event of fires and other incidents. Sirens are also used to warn citizens of hazards caused by severe weather (flooding) or as part of civil defence.
