Change in the management of ASR and ESC

Manfred Wüpper, Operations Manager of the City of Chemnitz's waste disposal and city cleaning company (ASR) and the City of Chemnitz's waste management company (ESC), will not be renewing his contract with the city, which expires in September 2016, in order to take on new professional challenges.

Manfred Wüpper joined the management of the two municipal companies in September 2011 and was also responsible as Managing Director of Wertstoff-Transport Chemnitz GmbH (WeTraC).

Under his leadership, it was possible to maintain the very favourable level of waste disposal fees throughout Germany beyond 2016 following a reduction since 2013 and to offer the citizens of Chemnitz reliable, environmentally friendly and affordable services in the areas of street cleaning and drainage. During its time in office, the ASR succeeded twice in winning the contract from Duale Systeme for the collection of lightweight packaging (LVP) in Chemnitz. In addition, the ASR was able to successfully expand its position in the area of public services in Chemnitz through a constant and innovative expansion of services. The ASR is one of the best-performing public waste management companies in Germany and its successful work has been recognised by its peers and in the trade press. Thanks to a consistent and citizen-friendly corporate strategy, the operations managed by Manfred Wüpper have generated above-plan operating results in all financial years.

In Manfred Wüpper, a competent and recognised expert is leaving the City of Chemnitz. It thanks him for his work and wishes him every success and all the best for the future.
