Change in local constituencies decided
At its meeting today, the city council decided to change the local constituencies for the city council elections on 26 May 2019.
The division of the city area into eight constituencies, which has been in place since 2009, remains unchanged. However, as population trends since 2009 have resulted in significant deviations in the number of inhabitants in the individual constituencies compared to the average for all constituencies (- 17.28 % in CHP 6 and + 20.62 % in CHP 4), the division of the constituencies was adjusted:
The neighbourhoods of Reichenhain and Erfenschlag (previously KWK 4) will be assigned to municipal constituency 5 in future. The district of Kapellenberg (previously KWK 5) will in future belong to municipal constituency 6.
Following the reorganisation of the constituencies, the differences in the population figures are only between - 9.31% (KWK 7) and + 8.83% (KWK 4). The layout of the constituencies from the last two local elections can largely be retained despite the change.
Background:
The division into municipal constituencies is based on Section 2 (1) and (2) and Section 65 KomWG. The population of an individual constituency should not deviate from the average population of all constituencies by more than 25 %. The average population of all constituencies as at 31 December 2017 was 30,928.
