Certificate for cross-border commuters in systemically important professions

According to the current Saxon Corona Quarantine Ordinance (SächsCoronaQuarVO, dated 15 February 2021), extended exemptions from domestic quarantine apply to employees of system-relevant areas when entering the country.

This requires an official certificate as proof, which must be carried on every entry and presented in the event of an inspection of cross-border traffic.

The official certificate is issued by the City of Chemnitz as the responsible local authority. Employers with a location or registered office in Chemnitz can send an email to grenzpendler(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. The completed form signed by the employer must be attached to the enquiry.

In special cases, it is possible to visit the customer portal in person at Moritzhof, Bahnhofstraße 53, 09111 Chemnitz - without prior appointment - during the following office hours: Mondays from 9 am to 12 noon and Fridays from 1 pm to 4 pm.

The form already completed and signed by the employer must also be submitted.

Systemically relevant occupational groups

In addition to employees in health and care facilities and in livestock farming businesses, employees and self-employed persons from the following systemically relevant sectors are also exempt from the domestic quarantine in accordance with thequarantine in accordance with the SächsCoronaQuarVO if their activities are indispensable for maintaining the functionality of these businesses:

  • Water and energy supply,
  • waste water disposal and waste management,
  • Transport and traffic,
  • Pharmacy sector,
  • pharmaceutical industry,
  • funeral services,
  • food industry
  • Information technology,
  • telecommunications,
  • and in the laboratories of medical facilities.
