Ceremony to welcome new trainees and students to the city administration
Invitation to the photo session on 1 September, 10 a.m., Chemnitz City Hall
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig will welcome the new trainees and students of Chemnitz City Council on Friday, 1 September 2017, at 10 a.m. in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall. Representatives of the media are cordially invited to this event.
A total of almost 1000 applications were received for the advertised apprenticeships. This year, 59 trainees and students are starting their training or studies. These include 26 trainees in the profession of administrative assistant, eight office management assistants, one road builder, one animal keeper, one media and information services specialist specialising in libraries and one specialising in archives, as well as three gardeners. As things stand today, 15 students are studying for a Bachelor of Laws degree in higher general administration and three students are training to become social education workers with a Bachelor of Arts degree. With the new trainees and students, 189 young professionals will join the city administration in September 2017.
The range of professions for which training can be started is based on demand and can therefore vary from year to year. Demand-orientated training is used to cover our own requirements for junior staff and to increase the chances of trainees being offered permanent positions. In the administrative professions in particular, not only is the demand very high, but also the chances of being taken on are very high, as many employees will be leaving the municipal administration in the coming years due to age, meaning that more than 1,200 employees will be retiring by 2026.
Anyone interested in vocational training or studying for 2018 can find information at www.chemnitz.de/Ausbildung.
