Ceremony to welcome new trainees and students to the city administration

12 more trainees and students than in the previous year

Mayor Sven Schulze welcomes the new trainees and students of Chemnitz City Council on Tuesday, 1 September 2015, at 1 pm in the City Council Chamber of the City Hall.

The training of our own young professionals is becoming increasingly important due to the high number of people leaving the city in the coming years. The training spectrum is expanding due to the changing demand for skilled labour. Professions that have not been trained for a long time, such as road builders and pool attendants, will be included in the training programme. A total of almost 800 applications were received for the advertised training occupations. The effects of demographic change and the associated decline in the number of applicants are already being felt in Chemnitz City Council. It is therefore all the more pleasing that it was still possible to select from a strong pool of applicants in many professions this year.

A total of 45 trainees and students are starting their training or studies this year. These include 15 trainees in the profession of administrative assistant, eight office management clerks, one road builder, two animal keepers, two pool attendants and one media and information services specialist. Fourteen students are studying for a Bachelor of Laws degree in higher general administration.

14 students and two students are being trained as social pedagogues with a Bachelor of Arts degree. With the new trainees and students, 135 young professionals will join the city administration in September 2015.

Preparations are also currently underway for the training of two paramedics in their year of recognition for the start of training in October 2015 and ten fire officer candidates for the start of training in January 2016.
