Central vaccination centre in Chemnitz from October
Chemnitz Hospital and health authority establish location at the hospital
From 1 October, the City of Chemnitz Health Department and Chemnitz Hospital will be opening a central vaccination centre at the hospital, where people aged 12 and over can receive their first and second vaccinations during a fixed time slot on several days of the week.
This means that even after the closure of the DRK's coronavirus vaccination centre in the Richard-Hartmann-Halle at the end of September, there will still be a place in Chemnitz - alongside GP surgeries - where people can get vaccinated without making an appointment.
Lord Mayor Sven Schulze: "Vaccination is still the best protection against a serious coronavirus infection. I hope that as many Chemnitz residents as possible will take advantage of this opportunity."
Dr Thomas Jendges, Managing Director of Chemnitz Hospital: "With the vaccination offer, we want to work with the city to further contain the coronavirus pandemic. Vaccination significantly reduces the risk of infection and severe illness from SARS-CoV-2. That's why we are happy to offer this low-threshold vaccination option."
