Case of hepatitis A in Schloss primary school

Many children and teachers without vaccinations - school has to close temporarily

A case of hepatitis A, a jaundice disease that must be reported, has occurred at Chemnitz Castle Primary School.

In the course of today's examination by the public health department, it was discovered that 119 of the 270 pupils have not been vaccinated. Half of the teachers and just under half of the after-school carers have also not been vaccinated.

According to the nationwide Infection Protection Act, these people must therefore stay at home for four weeks. If they get vaccinated, which the public health department offers quickly and easily, they can return to school after two weeks.

As so many people are affected, the State Office for Schools and Education (LASuB) has decided to close the school and after-school care centre completely until 20 November 2019.

Further information will be announced tomorrow at noon.
