Carolers come to the town hall
On 3 January, 3 p.m., Town Hall, Markt 1, Wandelhalle
On Tuesday, 3 January at 3 pm, the Chemnitz carol singers will visit the town hall. Mayor Ralph Burghart welcomes the girls and boys and their carers from the Catholic parishes of St. John Nepomuk, St. Joseph, St. Anthony and St. Francis in the lobby. The carol singers recite verses and songs and then sign the traditional blessing 20*C+M+B+23 (Christus mansionem benedicat - Christ bless this house) on the door of the Council Chamber and ask for donations for children in need. The carol singers will then visit the community centre on the Wall.
Representatives of the media and interested citizens are cordially invited to attend.
Every year, the carol singing campaign has a motto. In 2023, it is "Empowering children, protecting children - in Indonesia and worldwide". The campaign draws attention to the fact that children all over the world have a right to protection - in the sample country of Indonesia as well as in Germany. And it makes it clear that it is the task of adults to demand and guarantee this right.
The donations collected by the carol singers are channelled into aid projects for children in around 100 countries worldwide.
