Capital of Culture: Jury chairman and representatives of Aarhus 2017 visit Chemnitz

Invitation to the media on 15 January, from 4.30 p.m. and on 16 January, 1 p.m.

The current chairman of the EU jury for the selection of European Capitals of Culture, Dr Ulrich Fuchs, and Ib Christensen, head of the cultural department of the Danish city of Aarhus, European Capital of Culture 2017, will be guests in Chemnitz on 15 and 16 January 2018. Both will give keynote speeches on Monday, 15 January at 5 pm at the Capital of Culture Office's annual kick-off event at Haus Kraftwerk e.V., Kaßbergstraße 36, 09112 Chemnitz. The media are cordially invited to attend.

Ib Christensen will be available to answer your questions in a press conference at Haus Kraftwerk at 4.30 pm (in English).

We would also like to invite you to a joint press conference with Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig and Dr Ulrich Fuchs on Tuesday, 16 January at 1 pm in the Lord Mayor's offices.

About Dr Ulrich Fuchs:
Born in Neustadt/Waldnaab, currently lives in Marseille. Studied German language and literature, politics, history, sociology, theatre studies, 1982 doctorate at the FU Berlin. 1984-2005 lecturer at the University of Bremen, 1993-1996 also at the University of Mainz, at the same time 1984-2003 dramaturge at the Bremen Theatre. 2000-2004 Head of the Music and Cultural Management programme at Bremen University of Applied Sciences. Since 2001 lecturer at the Université d'Avignon. From 1998 worked in various functions at the Senator for Culture in Bremen. 2003-2005 project manager in the team preparing Bremen's application for the European Capital of Culture 2010. 2005-2010 deputy director and head of project development for the Capital of Culture Linz 2009, 2010-2014 deputy director of the Capital of Culture Marseille-Provence 2013. Since the beginning of 2014 member of the EU jury for the selection, monitoring and evaluation of current and future European Capitals of Culture. Ongoing freelance teaching and lecturing activities.
Dr Ulrich Fuchs is chairman of this European Capital of Culture jury until 31 December 2018.
