Capital of Culture 2025: Action day in the future Bürgerpark Gablenz - a park by and for citizens
On 25 September, from 2 to 5 pm, open space Hans-Ziegler-Straße
On Saturday, 25 September, from 2 to 5 p.m., interested parties are invited to a day of action on the open space in Hans-Ziegler-Straße. A future citizens' park is to be created there under the guiding principle of participation, co-design, participation.
The background to this is an extensive participation process in the urban development of Chemnitz for every area of the city. With the participation of citizens, "public squares" are being localised in the eight civic platform areas and eight localities which, in the opinion of the citizens, are in need of reorientation, redesign and redevelopment:In the opinion of the citizens, they should be reorientated, redesigned or upgraded in the spirit of a European Capital of Culture 2025 and thus promote cultural and intergenerational togetherness, participation and encounters.
Each area has 325,000 euros at its disposal for this purpose. This also applies to the Mitte-Ost area. At public events, the citizens' platform in the area collected ideas and suggestions, which were realised in a draft by landscape planner Uta Gehrhardt.
On the day of action, interested parties can view the plans, contribute further opinions and suggestions for the park, stroll through the area and talk to the planners, representatives of the City of Chemnitz and the Capital of Culture Office as well as the citizens' platform.
You can also take a curious look at the plans for the Apple Tree Parade, another project as part of the Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
