Can apps save lives? Big data and artificial intelligence in healthcare

The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre invites you to an online discussion on Tuesday, 8 June from 7 to 8.15 pm about the impact of algorithms and artificial intelligence in healthcare. Where do they already play a role and where will current developments take us in the future? Participation is free of charge. An expert discussion will show how far digitalisation has already progressed in the medical field, including electronic patient records, care robots and chips under the skin of diabetics that transmit glucose levels. Further research is equally driven by the promise that artificial intelligence can be used to recognise diseases earlier and treat them better. At the same time, many patients are unsettled: How can data be protected from misuse? And how can it be ensured that the use of artificial intelligence in the healthcare sector is not orientated towards profits, but towards patient well-being? Or will too much data protection ultimately prevent life-saving innovations?
In the moderated discussion, the value of sensitive data becomes clear, especially in healthcare and medicine. At the same time, it is important to follow the development of data-supported technologies and to empower patients to use them well. All participants can contribute their questions to the event via an online tool.
The event is part of the Stadt | Land | DatenFluss series organised by the German Adult Education Association at Chemnitz Adult Education Centre.
