Campaign week for the nationwide Digital Day
City Library: Invitation to the press breakfast on 15 June, 10 a.m., BibLab-C
On Wednesday, 15 June at 10 a.m., Chemnitz City Library invites you to a press breakfast in the BibLab-C area (Central Library, 3rd floor). The occasion is the city library's campaign week around the third nationwide Digital Day on 24 June. The campaign week itself takes place from 20 to 25 June.
Chemnitz City Library is taking part in the nationwide Digital Day initiative for the second time - this year with an entire week of activities under the motto "Digital is better?". Users are invited to meet crumb monsters and data octopuses, explore their own online footprints, familiarise themselves with their digital legacy and discuss ageing technologies. The events are a cooperation with the Saxony Consumer Advice Centre, the Stadtfabrikanten e.V. - FabLab project and the Q-Hub Chemnitz.
Digital participation is an important goal of the BibLab-C (Chemnitz Library Laboratory) project, which has been running for a year in the central library at the TIETZ. With a network of players from the local creative and cultural scene, digital media are made tangible here, be it at gaming events, at the digitisation station or in the specially equipped audio studio. The BibLab-C is funded by the hochdrei programme of the German Federal Cultural Foundation.
Background:
The nationwide Digital Day on 24 June is supported by the "Digital for All" initiative, an alliance of 27 organisations from the fields of civil society, culture, science, business, welfare and the public sector. The declared aim is to promote digital participation. The day of action is intended to explain digitalisation with numerous formats, make it tangible, show ways to digital participation and also create space for controversial debates. The individual activities are displayed on www.digitaltag.eu via an interactive action map and can be filtered by subject area or target group.
