Call for participation in the Europe Weeks 2024
Europe Weeks in Chemnitz from 30 April to 31 May
The Europe Weeks will take place from 30 April to 31 May this year. These are organised annually in Germany on the initiative of the federal states. The EU Office of the City of Chemnitz is once again calling on public organisations and associations to take part in the Europe Weeks. The highlight of the Europe Weeks is 9 May. This day is considered the founding day of the European Union and is an occasion to organise events for the people of Chemnitz and to celebrate the European Union. Associations, institutions and stakeholders are cordially invited to participate and support the celebration of European unification.
Interested parties can register their events until 1 April 2024. The relevant data such as the date, the name of the event, the venue and the time can be sent by email to eu-stelle(at)stadt-chemnitz.de. After registration, it is possible to publicise the events in various media of the City of Chemnitz. These include the event overview at www.chemnitz.de/europa and the flyer for the Europe Weeks in Chemnitz.
In addition, funding can be applied for on the basis of the new funding guidelines of the Free State of Saxony or the City of Chemnitz's own funding for European work. Further information can be found at www.chemnitz.de/europaarbeit
The aim of the Europe Weeks is to familiarise citizens with the European Union and to inform them about the history and current challenges of the EU. Public institutions and associations are called upon to communicate their activities at European level in various formats such as lectures, discussions and cultural events. Chemnitz is focussing on this year's anniversary of the accession of the ten countries that joined the EU in 2004: Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
