Thomas Böhme reads on 2 September, 7 pm at TIETZ
On Thursday, 2 September at 7 pm, Leipzig writer Thomas Böhme will be reading from his book "Puppenkino - Kalendergeschichten für 365 und einen Tag" and the current volume of poetry "Strandpatenschaft" at the TIETZ.

The world is not always what it seems. Thomas Böhme's short stories take a microscopic look at the world and peer through cupboard doors and into hidden corners. A story for every day of the year.
With "Strandpatenschaft", Thomas Böhme presents a volume of poetry that echoes all the keys of his poetic language and at the same time opens up new themes. The impending disappearance of what we commonly refer to as nature appears in many of his texts. The poems go beyond the decaying and seasonal and focus on the state of our world in general. Some texts seem like swansongs and open up apocalyptic scenarios. The mythical also makes an appearance.

Thomas Böhme was born in Leipzig in 1955. 1974 A-levels, teacher's certificate; trained as a librarian; worked as a librarian and advertising editor. 1982 to 1984 correspondence course at the Leipzig Literature Institute. Since 1985, he has worked intermittently as a freelance author in Leipzig. He is a member of the German PEN Centre, the German Writers' Association and the Free Academy of Arts in Leipzig. Awards: 1988 Georg-Maurer Prize of the City of Leipzig, 1994 Schiller Foundation Weimar Award of Honour. He also works as an editor, rewriter, essayist and photographer.

The "Landnahme" reading series focuses on award-winning authors and translators who live in Saxony or come from here. As a rule, thirteen authors and translators are invited who have been honoured with prizes and scholarships in the previous two years.
