Cactus and bromeliad show in the Botanical Garden
The cactus and bromeliad show can be seen in the greenhouse complex in the Botanical Garden, Leipziger Straße, on Whitsun from 8 to 10 June, daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission costs 3 euros for adults and 2 euros for concessions. Children of pre-school age are admitted free of charge. (Discounts are available for the severely disabled, school pupils, students, trainees, voluntary ecological and social year volunteers, as well as holders of the Chemnitz Pass or similar documents from other places).
In keeping with the summer, sun and holiday season and the time of blossoms, a colourful firework display of exotic impressions will be set off in the Chemnitz Botanical Garden. Thousands of blossoms will delight onlookers and awaken longings for distant lands. As a special highlight this year, visitors will be able to experience large columnar cacti in bloom.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to inform themselves about the construction of the exhibition from Wednesday, 5 June, around 1 pm.
The exhibition, which has a long tradition in the Chemnitz Botanical Garden, is jointly organised by the Chemnitz Cactus Friends and the Chemnitz Botanical Garden/Nature Conservation Centre Association.
The cactus show is part of the Chemnitz Botanical Garden's extensive leisure and educational programme. The experts from both organisations will be on hand to provide visitors with lots of information on caring for cacti and other succulents (plants that can store water for dry periods) and bromeliads and, if necessary, add some rare specimens to their own collection. The event is rounded off by an extensive range of plants from the breeders' collections.
A wide range of food and drinks will also be available.
