Bus lock between Dresdner Strasse and Hainstrasse is being built
Construction of the new tramline begins on 12 August
On Monday, 12 August, construction work will begin on a new bus interchange between Dresdner Strasse and Hainstrasse - at Phillippstrasse, where Dresdner Strasse and Hainstrasse come closest together.
The bus interlock will create a lane for a new bus stop area (in both directions) between Dresdner Strasse and Hainstrasse. The municipal land used for the construction was previously largely used as green space.
The length of the tramline or bus interchange is approx. 45 metres with a width of at least 6.50 metres. The geometry of the layout of the bus interchange was determined by the trajectories of the design vehicle: the edge of the carriageway will be straight for a length of 21 metres in the stopping area so that articulated buses can also stop. The bus stop area will also be equipped with two passenger shelters and two dynamic passenger information systems.
The bus interlock is due to be completed by the end of November. The company ATS Chemnitz Asphalt-, Tief- und Straßenbau GmbH from Chemnitz has been commissioned to carry out the work.
The costs for the construction work amount to around 490,000 euros, around two thirds of which will be financed by urban development funds from grants from the federal and state "Growth and Sustainable Renewal" programme.
