Information on the participation of persons without permanent residence
With the corresponding provisions of the Federal Electoral Regulations, the legislator provides for the possibility that persons who are not registered for a residence in the City of Chemnitz but who otherwise usually reside in the Federal Republic of Germany have the right to be included in the electoral roll for the Bundestag election on 26 September 2021 upon application.
The deadline for submitting this application is 5 September 2021, by which date applications may be accepted by the City of Chemnitz. The persons concerned will then receive a polling card and postal voting documents on the basis of this application if the other requirements for voting rights are met and can thus participate in the election by postal vote.
Anyone wishing to submit such an application must contact the postal voting centre of the City of Chemnitz. In addition to a number of personal details, the application must also state where the postal voting documents are to be sent.
The application must be submitted to the electoral authority of the City of Chemnitz (postal address: City of Chemnitz, postal voting office, 09106 Chemnitz) by 5 September 2021 at the latest. It can also be handed in in person at the postal voting centre (City Hall, Markt 1) by the above deadline. Further enquiries can be made on 0371 488 7483 or at briefwahl(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
Postal voting documents will be issued from 6 September 2021 until 24 September 2021 at the postal voting office in the town hall, Markt 1. The election letter with the ballot paper must be returned to the postal voting office by 26 September 2021, 18:00.
