Brühl office opened as a central contact point on Brühl Boulevard - Minister of State Ulbig hands over funding decision
This afternoon, Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig and Minister of State Markus Ulbig gave the go-ahead for the further development of Brühl: The Brühl Office was opened on the boulevard as the central point of contact on site. Minister of State Markus Ulbig presented the city with the funding decision totalling 2.294 million euros for the "SOP - Active Urban and District Centres Brühl-Boulevard" programme, which is now starting.
Brühl office opens
In the middle of Brühl Boulevard (on the corner of Untere Aktienstraße) in a former shop, the Brühlbüro is now available as a contact point for interested parties and participants, for owners, residents, tradespeople, potential investors, project organisers and people with ideas. The office will serve as an open information and advice centre as well as a meeting point and workshop. It will offer space for consultations and events, showcase the current Brühl development in an exhibition, provide displays and offers in the course of marketing as well as information on activities on the Brühl.
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "The new Brühl office will be our central point of contact for the further development of Brühl. It is primarily intended to advise interested parties, owners, potential investors, but also citizens, for example on funding opportunities. Of course, this works best directly on site."
In regular discussions and open Brühl rounds and workshops, all interested parties are invited to accompany and actively participate in the development of Brühl into an urban neighbourhood together with the city and other partners. Specifically for owners, potential investors and project organisers, advice is offered on topics such as building renovations and various funding opportunities.
The Brühl office is open from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm and on Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Dr Urs Luczak, Brühl manager (Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 am - 4 pm) and Claudia Bieder from the SOP centre management (office hours Wednesday, 10 am - 2 pm) as well as Jens Brendel for the SOP funding advice service (Thursday, 10 am - 2 pm) are available as contacts.
SOP - Active Town and District Centres" programme starts
With the handover of the funding decision totalling €2.294 million by State Minister Markus Ulbig, a total of around €3.5 million is now available for the development of the Brühl-Boulevard area until 2018. In February of this year, the city of Chemnitz applied for the "SOP Brühl-Boulevard" development area to be included in the federal and state urban development programme "Active Urban and District Centres".
Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "The positive funding decision is another important building block for the future development of Brühl, alongside the planned conversion of the Alte Aktienspinnerei into a central library."
The programme, which aims to strengthen neighbourhood centres and develop central supply areas with a loss of function and vacancies, can provide funding in various areas. Grants are available for marketing and public relations work, in particular for shopping street and neighbourhood marketing.
A disposition fund for micro-projects by local stakeholders provides targeted support for initiatives and approaches to revitalise the district. In addition, the programme offers subsidies for building renovations and residential courtyard designs by private owners. Investments will be made in public spaces over the next few years as part of the SOP programme - funds are available for the design of the boulevard and side streets.
To support the municipal Brühl manager Dr. Luczak, the experienced redevelopment agency "die STEG" has now been contracted as the city's SOP representative, advising private owners in particular on the promotion of construction measures on buildings and the design of courtyards, as well as working with the Brühl manager to take on the work and coordination on site in the sense of neighbourhood management.
