Brückenstraße closed on 9 October
Traffic restrictions due to the Nischel birthday
Brückenstraße will be fully closed on Saturday, 9 October, from 1.30 pm to around 11 pm. Specifically, the area between Theaterstraße and Straße der Nationen will be affected. The reason for this is the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Karl Marx Monument. In addition, there will be a stopping ban on Brückenstraße from 2 pm to 11 pm in the area in front of the State Office for Taxation and Finance (so-called roundabout).
The Brückenstraße closure can be bypassed via Bahnhofstraße, Theaterstraße, Mühlenstraße, Georgstraße, Straße der Nationen and Carolastraße. Access to the Hotel Dorint is possible from the direction of Theaterstraße.
Chemnitz is celebrating the inauguration of the Karl Marx Monument 50 years ago this Saturday with discussions, guided tours, creative and play opportunities and music. At 10 a.m., an information stele will be inaugurated at the Nischel, followed by the opening of the exhibition "DENKmal Karl Marx. Propagated, scorned, marketed - a monument and its urban history" will open in the open space behind the monument. A panel discussion with contemporary witnesses, a monument conservationist and a historian will also begin there at 2 pm. From 6 p.m., various groups will perform on the stage next to the Karl Marx Monument.
