In the period from March 2025 to March 2027, construction lots 8 and 9 in the north-west of Chemnitz (outer area) will be supplied with broadband access. There are a total of 481 buildings to be connected in the expansion area with a total of 1,138 utilisation units.
Lot 8 covers the districts and areas of Grüna, Rabenstein, Siegmar North, Neustadt North, Schönau North and Kappel North. There, 43 network distributors and the connection of approx. 176 buildings are planned on a total of approx. 32.2 kilometres of new lines to be constructed.
Construction lot 9 covers the districts and areas of Röhrsdorf, Borna South and Schloßchemnitz North. There, 29 network distributors and the connection of approx. 305 buildings are planned on a total of approx. 29.3 kilometres of new line to be constructed.
The civil engineering work for all surfaces will be carried out using open and closed construction methods. The roads in the various urban areas will be partially or fully closed for the construction work to be carried out.
The total construction costs for both lots amount to approx. 20.4 million euros and are subsidised by the federal government and the Free State with a total of 90 percent.
ALCON Bauunternehmung GmbH (lot 8) and UMWELT 2000 GmbH (lot 9) have been commissioned to carry out the construction work.
