Black box gardening: fun with living garden images
VHS@home on 20 May, 5 to 7.15 pm
On Thursday, 20 May, from 5 to 7.15 pm, the adult education centre invites you to an online workshop on an unconventional gardening idea: black box gardening. The idea behind this is that each plant chooses the location that offers it the best conditions. This reduces the workload for gardeners and harbours many surprises in the garden.
Participation is free of charge. Anyone interested can register on the day of the event at 3 p.m. at www.vhs-chemnitz.de or 0371 488 4343 and will receive an access link by email.
In black box gardening or in the "black box garden", it is up to the plants to decide where to sow their seeds and in which places they feel particularly at home. This is not gardening according to a plan, but resembles a perpetual experiment. The input is low, only a few initial plants or seeds are needed, and fertilising and watering could also be omitted. It is impossible to predict which seed will sprout in which place and how it will reproduce. Instead, the result is a low-maintenance and lively garden that provides surprises and also creates a suitable habitat for bees and butterflies.
An experienced hobby gardener will introduce this new garden idea and provide helpful and practical tips. The event is part of the "Living Consciously" course series at the adult education centre.
