Birgit Jasmund reads from "Die Elbflut"

On Tuesday, 17 October at 6 pm, Dresden author Birgit Jasmund will be reading from her historical novel "Die Elbflut" at the district library in the Vita-Center. Dresden, 1784: Since her mother disappeared, Luise has been helping her father, a fisherman, with his work. They watch anxiously as the ice masses build up on the Elbe. Conrad, a geographer, has similar worries. When a couple of children get caught between the ice floes, Luise has to watch as Conrad risks his life to save the boys. The two immediately feel a special connection. Then the ice breaks up, masses of water shoot downstream - and in all the disaster, Luise and Conrad are torn apart.
Birgit Jasmund, born in 1967, comes from near Hamburg. After studying law in Kiel, life took her to Dresden. When the wind is really blowing in your face there, nothing can keep her indoors.
