Bilingual reading - contemporary French literature
Julia Deck reads from "Privateigentum" - on 27 October, 6.30 pm at TIETZ
On Thursday 27 October at 6.30 pm, French author Julia Deck will read from her novel "Privateigentum", a bitterly angry story about the Parisian eco-affine middle class, which has just been published by Wagenbach Verlag. The bilingual book presentation and discussion (French-German) will take place at the TIETZ - subject to possible changes due to the current Corona development. Admission is free.
The event will be moderated by cultural scientist Ulrike Brummert. The German voice will be read by Martin Bauch.
They have been married for thirty years and have just moved house. Outside Paris, the urbanite and her depressive husband have finally acquired a state-of-the-art home of their own. The new neighbours are also overjoyed. And they all realise too late that their spotlessly clean eco-friendly estate is a dead end ...
The author composes a plot of false trails and dubious clues with relish and cruelty to lead the reader both on the trail and astray. A bitterly ironic neighbourhood novel about modern myths.
Julia Deck was born in Paris in 1974. She studied literature at the Sorbonne, worked for numerous newspapers and magazines and teaches at the School of Journalism. Her latest novel "Privateigentum" was published by Klaus Wagenbach in August 2020.
