Big mountain parade on 30 November
Start at 2 pm on Theaterplatz - traffic restrictions in the city centre
On Saturday, 30 November, the Great Mining Parade will once again parade through Chemnitz city centre. It starts at 2 p.m. on Theatre Square and leads along Karl-Liebknecht-Straße, Richard-Tauber-Straße, Straße der Nationen and Brückenstraße. There the parade turns around and follows the same route back to the theatre square.
Almost 1,000 participants present the tradition: 580 people in uniform and 360 mountain musicians can be seen in the impressive procession, opening the Christmas season in the Ore Mountains. The parade will be led by Ray Lätzsch, Chairman of the Saxon State Association of Miners', Miners' and Miners' Associations, and Heino Neuber, Second Chairman of the Saxon State Association of Miners', Miners' and Miners' Associations. Jens Bretschneider, the state mining music director, will be the musical director.
The final mining ceremony on the theatre square begins at around 3 pm. Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, together with mayors or their deputies from the cultural region and the Saxon State Minister for Regional Development Thomas Schmidt, will welcome the mining brotherhoods and spectators.
Wheelchair spaces are available for the final concert in a cordoned-off area on the theatre square near the Petrikirche.
Traffic restrictions:
The running route will be completely closed from approx. 1 pm to approx. 4 pm. The event will be secured by the Chemnitz Police Department with operational measures. Stopping bans will be set up along the running route. Instructions from stewards must be followed.
Richard-Tauber-Straße and Karl-Liebknecht-Straße between Richard-Tauber-Straße and Georgstraße will be set up as one-way streets for the arrival and departure of the mountain brothers and mountain sisters. Residents are requested to use the access road via Mühlenstraße.
