Big mountain parade on 26 November
Start at 2 pm on Theaterplatz - traffic restrictions in the city centre
On Saturday, 26 November, after a two-year break due to the pandemic, the Great Mountain Parade will parade through Chemnitz city centre. The 42nd parade will start at 2 p.m. from the Theatre Square and continue along Richard-Tauber-Straße, Straße der Nationen and Brückenstraße. There the parade turns around and follows the same route back to the theatre square.
Around 980 participants present the tradition: 600 people in uniform, 360 mountain musicians and 20 mountain singers can be seen in the impressive procession, opening the Christmas season in the Ore Mountains.
Meanwhile, at around 2.15 pm, the music corps of the town of Olbernhau-Grünthal and the Neustädtel singing group perform a concert on the theatre square.
The closing ceremony will take place from around 2.30 pm - this year for the first time on the theatre square. Lord Mayor Sven Schulze and the Saxon State Minister for Regional Development Thomas Schmidt will welcome the mountain brotherhoods and the spectators.

Traffic restrictions in the city centre
There will be traffic restrictions in the city centre during the Great Mountain Parade.
The entire parade route will be closed from 1.30 p.m. to approx. 4 p.m. and will be monitored by the police. Road users are advised to take a wide detour around the affected city centre area.
Stopping bans will be set up along the route of the parade. Instructions from stewards must be followed.
Richard-Tauber-Straße and Karl-Liebknecht-Straße between Richard-Tauber-Straße and Georgstraße will be set up as one-way streets for the arrival and departure of the mountain brotherhoods. Residents are requested to use the access road via Mühlenstraße.
Visitors to the event and the city centre are advised to use public transport. CVAG will announce the changes to public transport due to the traffic closures separately at www.cvag.de.
