Bicycle storage boxes are delivered

From Tuesday, 27 June, three bicycle parking facilities will be delivered and set up in Chemnitz. The first will be erected at Chemnitz University of Technology. Media representatives are invited to a photo opportunity tomorrow, 27 June, 5 pm* on Reichenheiner Straße, near the TU Orangery (at house no. 90). A representative of the City of Chemnitz will be on site to answer technical questions.
The other two bicycle parking boxes will be delivered this week to Bahnhofsstraße/Bahnhofvorplatz and Straße der Nationen (near easy Apotheke). As these are initially construction sites, the bicycle parking facilities will initially be secured with a construction fence.
Further work is still required before the bicycle parking boxes can go into operation, i.e. the electrical equipment is still being installed and the hardware and software is being set up. Appropriate test runs are required for this. The boxes will also be given an attractive visual design and wrapped in foil. Commissioning is planned for August with an official symbolic handover to the cyclists. Information and invitations will be sent out in good time.
The city of Chemnitz is installing the three bicycle parking containers to make cycling more attractive. This will provide cyclists with an opportunity to park their bikes safely from theft and vandalism and protected from the weather. Three locations have been selected that are important for cycling. If necessary, the boxes can be moved around the city.
Each bicycle parking facility offers space for 16 bicycles. The system and the individual parking spaces can be operated and rented via an app.
