Bibliophile treasure saved!

Friends' association seeks further book sponsors for the preservation of the historical collection Invitation to the press conference with photo session on 30 March, 11 a.m.

The culturally and historically significant volume "Chirurgische Bücher und Schrifften...des Paracelsus" (Frankfurt, 1605) has been restored and preserved for the Chemnitz City Library thanks to funding from the Coordination Centre for the Preservation of Written Cultural Heritage (KEK) at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz and private donations. It is now available again for academic research purposes.

To mark the occasion, representatives of the media are invited to a press conference and photo session on Thursday, 30 March at 11 a.m. in the Learning Room of the Central Library in the TIETZ (Science & Technology Department).

The Head of User Management at the City Library, Tina Goldammer, will explain the tasks and objectives of the Coordination Centre for the Preservation of Written Cultural Heritage. The Chemnitz & Region editor at the City Library, Sabine Schumann, will present Paracelsus and his work in the volume "Chirurgische Bücher und Schrifften" and Curt Bertram, Chairman of the Chemnitz City Library Sponsors' Association, will introduce the "Buchpaten gesucht" ("Book sponsors wanted") campaign.
