Beyerstrasse construction project to be financially reorganised
At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council approved additional funds totalling €1.1 million for the coordinated Beyerstrasse construction project in the section from Limbacher Strasse to Paul-Jäkel-Strasse. This means that funds totalling 2 million euros will now be made available.
The city council had already approved this construction project in February. Due to the price increases on the raw materials market as a result of the war in Ukraine, the construction costs have now doubled. The current cost planning takes into account the currently prevailing material and raw material prices.
In addition to the necessary road construction, the bridge structure built in 1888 over which Beyerstrasse runs will also be renewed and adapted to the current flood protection requirements. The construction work will be coordinated with eins energie, i.e. the drinking water and gas pipes in the area from Matthesstrasse to Paul-Jäkel-Strasse will also be renewed and a new protective pipe route for communication cables will be built.
The entire construction project will take around 13 months and will be carried out under full road closure. It will begin with the bridge construction on 22 May 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2024.
The diversion route to the Flemming area and Chemnitz Hospital will be via Fritz-Matschke-Straße and Paul-Jäkel-Straße.
