Best outdoor pool season in Chemnitz for years
Balance sheet for 2015 - thank you to numerous bathers
The past summer with its picture-book bathing weather on many days meant that the city of Chemnitz's outdoor pools were more popular than they have been for many years. The Chemnitz outdoor pools counted around 137,000 bathers. A number of visitors that was only surpassed by the years 2003 with 169,000 visitors and 2001 with 138,500 visitors.
"The high number of visitors this year shows that the people of Chemnitz feel comfortable in their outdoor pools and honour our efforts to increase the recreational value and quality of use of the outdoor pools. At the same time, it motivates us to continue working on the variety of offers at the outdoor pools in order to sustainably improve their attractiveness and customer satisfaction," says Norman Schröder, Head of the Pools Department at the Education and Sports Office.
From summer 2016, for example, the Education and Sports Department intends to continue the existing activities such as swimming festivals, sports competitions and aqua fitness programmes and, where possible, to expand them with additional offers.
"We would like to thank the numerous bathers for their trust. At the same time, the office would also like to expressly thank the many part-time employees for their support as lifeguards, pool assistants and cashiers," says Schröder.
Despite or perhaps because of the heat, the Chemnitz municipal pool was also well attended with around 3,500 users during the reduced holiday opening times.
There were 1,188 visitors to the 25-metre hall, which was open nine days during the first three weeks of the holiday, and 2,264 visitors to the 50-metre hall, which was open eight days during the last two weeks of the holiday.
