Bernsdorf swimming complex

Closure of Bernsdorfer Straße from 20 June - topping-out ceremony on 30 June, 10.30 a.m.

From Monday, 20 June until probably Thursday, 23 June, Bernsdorfer Straße will be completely closed in the section from Marktsteig to Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße. The reason for this is the delivery and assembly of 25 metre long roof trusses for the new construction of the Bernsdorf swimming complex. Appropriate diversions have been signposted.

Special vehicles from a specialised transport company will deliver a total of nine prefabricated concrete trusses for the assembly of the roof structure. The roof trusses, with a total length of around 25 metres, a maximum height of two metres and a weight of around 25 tonnes, will arrive at the construction site in several trips over two nights.

The roof trusses will then be installed on the respective sections of the swimming pool roofs using a 400-tonne mobile crane. This may result in traffic restrictions.

The project will reach the next milestone with the assembly work on the roof structure: the topping-out ceremony will be celebrated on the construction site on Thursday 30 June from 10.30 a.m. in the presence of Michael Stötzer, the mayor of the construction site.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend.

The swimming complex is scheduled for completion at the end of 2023. The costs were estimated at around 21.6 million euros (net) when the construction decision was made. Around EUR 11.5 million in funding from the "Bridges to the Future" programme has been earmarked for financing.
