Work on the Berbisdorfer Kirchweg play and leisure centre will begin next week. The play and leisure centre is an important meeting point for children aged 3 to 16 within the Berbisdorf-Einsiedel catchment area.
It consists of a football pitch, a streetball area and a fall protection gravel area with a slide, seesaw animal and the remains of the dismantled 3-pole swing.
A double swing and a climbing tower will be installed as new play equipment in the largely existing fall protection gravel area. The fall protection gravel surface will be adapted and renewed in accordance with the required safety distances for the new play equipment. A streetball stand will be erected on an existing paved area. Around ten shrubs will be planted in the playground area.
The play and leisure area is located on a hill with a view of the city of Chemnitz. Hikers on the neighbouring hiking trail will find a covered seating area on the site.
The renovation costs totalled around 35,000 euros for the landscaping and play equipment. The construction work is being carried out by Reino GmbH from Geithain. The playground equipment will be manufactured and supplied by the company Spielplatzgeräte Maier. Construction is being supervised by the Parks Department.
