Beekeeping Day 2020
Event in the Botanic Garden on 5 July between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
On Sunday, 5 July, the "Day of Beekeeping" will take place between 10 am and 6 pm in the Botanical Garden in Chemnitz, Leipziger Straße 147. As in previous years, the "Imkerverein "Chemnitz 1874 e.V." will be taking part in this day. Admission is free.
Visitors can look forward to lots of information about bees and honey. There will also be a practical presentation, for example in a display hive, where a colony of bees can be seen on honeycombs. The life of a bee is illustrated using photos in the photo hive. The experts will be on hand to answer questions. There is also a wheel of fortune for the little ones and, weather permitting, a "drone race". The male bees (drones) are labelled with numbers, then taken a few hundred metres away and whichever drone comes back first is the winner.
