Basic coverage of the public authority number 115
The City Council has decided to implement the public law agreement between the City of Chemnitz and the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior on the basic coverage of the standardised public authority number 115. This means that calls from the districts of Bautzen, Görlitz, Mittelsachsen, Zwickau, Vogtlandkreis and Erzgebirgskreis will be processed in the service centre of the city of Chemnitz.
In Saxony, 115 is currently available in the cities of Chemnitz, Leipzig, Dresden and Brandis. The participating municipalities are members of the 115 network, a joint project of the federal, state and local governments that operates on a voluntary basis. The 115 can therefore only be reached in the cities and districts that are members of the network. Outside of these areas, callers receive a recorded message advising them to contact the relevant local authority.
The agreement on basic coverage thus also gives districts outside the 115 network access to the service centre's portfolio of services. Calls are split equally between Leipzig and Chemnitz. A profitability analysis recommended splitting the calls between the existing service centres instead of setting up a new one.
The single public authority number 115 has been available in Chemnitz since 1 February 2012. This number eliminates the time-consuming search for contact persons and responsibilities. By 31 October 2017, 230,990 calls had been received via 115 for Chemnitz. This corresponds to 43% of all calls to the service centre.
