Barrier-free expansion of bus stops
Construction work on Weststraße and Waldenburger Straße
From Tuesday, 11 August, construction work will begin on the barrier-free expansion of bus stops on Weststraße at Kanzlerstraße. The work will be carried out while Weststraße is closed on one side. From September, work will then follow on bus stops on Waldenburger Straße at Zinzendorfstraße.
Although this will lead to an accumulation of construction sites and additional traffic congestion on Kaßberg, the traffic control commission confirmed the application for a half-side closure of Weststraße on 4 August. The traffic control committee, which includes representatives from the civil engineering office, police, CVAG, inetz and Regiobus, justifies this as follows:
The traffic flow on Kaßberg is still unproblematic with the current closures and diversions (Barbarossastraße, Limbacher Straße, Reichsstraße). It is estimated that the additional half-sided closure of Weststraße at Kanzlerstraße will not lead to any significant deterioration during the school holidays.
The barrier-free expansion of the four bus stops is being financed with subsidies. The funding provider must be invoiced by the end of the current year, meaning that the selected construction period cannot be postponed.
The following construction sites will be made barrier-free:
- "Kanzlerstraße" stops in the direction of the countryside/city centre on Weststraße
The barrier-free expansion will take place from week 33 to the end of week 36, with Weststraße closed on one side and traffic lights on both sides.
The stop in the direction of the countryside will be temporarily relocated after the Weststraße/Kanzlerstraße junction near the garages. The citybound stop will be temporarily relocated in front of the Weststraße/Kanzlerstraße junction at Weststraße 21.
- Ernst-Heilmann-Straße" stops in the direction of the city/country on Waldenburger Straße
The barrier-free expansion of the cityward stop will take place from week 37 to the end of week 41 with a full closure of Waldenburger Straße between Bonhoefferstraße and the Waldenburger Straße 54 access road.
The extension of the landward stop will take place in parallel with a full closure of Waldenburger Straße between Zinzendorfstraße and Harthweg.
The diversion will be via Zinzendorfstraße and Limbacher Straße, with temporary traffic lights at the intersections of Waldenburger Straße/Zinzendorfstraße and Limbacher Straße/Zinsendorfstraße. Both bus stops will be temporarily relocated to Zinzendorfstraße. Stopping is prohibited on both sides of Zinzendorfstraße between Waldenburger Straße and Limbacher Straße during the construction period.
