Barrier-free access to the east entrance of the Hartmannfabrik
Fabrikstraße is initially closed on one side - full closure from 7 to 20 October
Last week, work began on the east entrance to the renovated Hartmannfabrik. Barrier-free access is being created there. To this end, the missing pavement in this area will be completed and an 11 x 4.50 metre platform will be erected in front of the two entrance doors as a reception area. The platform will be edged with natural stone palisades and connected to the new pavement via ramps. The pavement will have a granite paving surface similar to the existing pavement along the Chemnitz River. Two natural stone slabs made of granite with the logo of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 will be embedded in the platform area.
For this work, Fabrikstraße will be closed on one side and regulated as a one-way street in the direction of Bierbrücke.
In addition, the asphalt surface course in front of the Hartmannfabrik will be renewed. To this end, Fabrikstraße will have to be fully closed during the autumn holidays from 7 to 20 October. At the same time, the crossing to the Hartmannschule will be paved, the barrier-free crossing from the lift bridge to the Hartmannhalle will be constructed and the pavement on the access roads to the Hartmannfabrik and Hartmannhalle will be lowered.
The existing green strip on the river side will be supplemented with a row of trees in the autumn. Three recreational areas with seating will also be created there, and the remaining areas will be planted with a varied mix of perennials by the Parks Department.
The work will be coordinated with the ongoing work on the outdoor areas of the Hartmannfabrik in close co-operation with all the clients. The joint commitment of the company Gunter Hüttner + Co GmbH will enable synergy effects to be utilised and obstructions to be avoided.
All restrictive work on the pavement and road should be completed by 25 October 2024. Only the work on the grass verge will then continue.
